Welcoming a new baby into their home can be a stressful and worrying time for some people, who are afraid they are not prepared or have everything that they need. If this sounds familiar and you want to try and ensure that your new baby is not left wanting, then you will want to prepare in advance.

Below is a checklist of items that you will want to ensure that you have before you bring your bundle of joy home. Just as with weddings, you can create lists at stores to let your friends and family know what they should buy if they wish to give a gift.

Travelling With Baby

One essential item that you will need to ensure before you bring your baby home is that you have a car seat in your vehicle, which is suitable for newborns and is compliant with the law. As well as ensuring you have a car seat, you will also want to get a baby stroller or baby carrier which will make travelling with your newborn, even locally, a much easier task.

You will also need to ensure that the baby will have somewhere warm and safe for them to sleep, which means purchasing a crib for them. You will want to also get a comfortable mattress and a cover for it so it makes cleaning more straightforward in case of accidents or spillages. Also make sure that you have plenty of blankets and sheets for the bed, as you may need to change them regularly. As well as costly items, there are also plenty of other things that you will need, and as newborn baby gifts in Australia are common, your friends and family may help you with these.

Essential Everyday Items

There are also plenty of items that the baby is going to need every day, and your friends and family will often give some of these as gifts when you have a baby shower. Some of the essential items that you are going to need are as follows:

  • Nappies – And Lots Of Them!
  • Warm Baby Clothes
  • Blankets & Towels
  • Soft Toys
  • Baby Shampoo & Soap
  • Bottles & Steriliser
  • Breast Pump
  • Bathtub
  • Bibs
  • Thermometer
  • Baby Gate
  • Baby Bouncer

A lot of these items mentioned above are inexpensive and do not cost a lot, so they can be the perfect items for your friends and family to give as a gift, as you are undoubtedly going to go through a lot of these.

Do Not Worry

One of the biggest things for newborn parents to remember when bringing their first child home is that it is best not to worry about being prepared. You are never truly prepared for something as big as this, so take your time in getting ready and make sure that you have the essentials. If there is anything else that you need, you can always get them later, and it is also vital to keep in mind that many new parents feel overwhelmed when the baby first arrives at home.

Listen to the advice you are given and even do research online. With a bit of patience, hard work, and perseverance, you can give your new bundle of joy a warm and welcoming home.
