  • If possible, remove soaked drywall, paneling, plaster, and insulation. Clean the walls nearby that are dry, but still located in the affected area of your home. Use soap and a mixture of one tablespoon bleach to one gallon of water.
  • If possible, remove affected carpeting and underlying pad. Hardwood floors or tile should be washed and thoroughly sanitized. Wood floors typically absorb water and will likely need to be replaced. Before the flooring can be replaced, the subfloor must be completely dry.
