4 Signs You’re Ready To Have Another Child

21st Apr 2018

As a parent there comes a moment when you know that you’re ready for your first baby.  You feel prepared and ready for the challenges that may arise, and the thought of changing diapers no longer makes you gag, but instead makes you feel useful.

How do you know, however, when it’s time to have your second child?  Sometimes the challenges with your first child are so much that you may wonder if you ever want to have another.  However, there comes a moment where everything seems to fall into place, and you start to realize that you may just be ready for another.

Here are some of the most common signs that you’re probably ready to take on parenthood for a second round.

You’re In a Comfortable Place Financially

Having financial security is one of the most important factors to make sure that you’ve got covered before pursuing having children.  If buying diapers makes you start running the risk of going bankrupt in order to pay for them, then it’s a sure sign that you should get your money in check before taking on a responsibility like a child.

Being able to comfortably pay for whatever you need for your baby is a great feeling.  That way you can focus on nurturing your child and enjoying parenthood rather than stressing about how you’ll be able to pay for it.

You’re In a Good Place With Your Partner

Some people make the mistake of having another child with their partner hoping that it will patch up any issues that they have and bring them closer.  While this is a nice thought in theory, rarely is it the case.

Having another baby as means to fix marital issues usually ends in creating more issues and fighting.  However, if you are getting along great and are on a similar wavelength, then it’s probably a fantastic time to start thinking about more kids in your family.

Your First Child Is Asking About Siblings

There eventually comes a moment when your first child starts asking about whether they are ever going to have a brother or sister.  This is something which a lot of parents would love to be able to give their first born since it means they’ll have someone to play with and enjoy their childhood with.

You Start Having “Baby Fever”

If you start seeing babies and feel yourself “ooh-ing” and “ahh-ing” over how cute they are then this is a sign of baby fever.

Tiny clothes make you squeal and all those little baby sounds start bringing you back to the days when your first child was a newborn. These are your hormones letting you know you’ve got the green light!
